In a statement issued on Sunday, the Al-Qassam said an Israeli armored unit breached several meters past the eastern wall of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, but it encountered a well-prepared ambush by Al-Qassam fighters.
The fighters from Hamas’ military branch swiftly encircled the enemy's infiltrating unit, destroying two bulldozers and a tank, forcing the Israeli forces to retreat from the area and return to the other side of the border wall, the statement said.
The Al-Qassam Brigades said that their fighters safely returned to their bases following the successful operation.
The Israeli regime has said it will ramp up airstrikes on Gaza as the military prepares for a possible ground invasion of the besieged territory. The Israeli military has issued a call for both regular and reserve soldiers to be ready for deployment.
